Looking under shoreline rocks, in shoal vegetation and observing the lakes surface, we learn about the variety of insects that trout feed on. We gain an understanding of the insects lifecycle and its availability, this knowledge allows us to tie into our fly patterns our interpretation of what we have seen, enabling us to respond to the different feeding habits of the trout throughout the seasons, enhancing the enjoyment of our sport flyfishing.
