Trout Food

The Dragonfly Lifecycle

A young dragon nymph hatched from the egg. Nymphs inhabit the shore line vegetation and weed beds that supply cover and access to small aquatic insects for food.

As the dragon nymph matures in size it will molt or shed its skin. The skin will split down the back allowing the nymph to pull itself out. The new nymph is a light translucent color and highly vulnerable to trout predation until the new skin darkens up.

Dragon nymphs have voracious appetites and feed on caddis larva, damsel nymphs, shrimp, and even small bait fish.
